Design and development studio

Good work, and always knowing where it stands

We design and build brands, websites and internal tools — then hand them over properly. Every client gets a private link to their own project, updated as the work moves.

Selected work

Three projects, three different problems

We take on work where the brief is a business problem, not a list of pages.

  • A design review table: the roaster's old packaging beside the new range, printed colour chips and a layout proof arranged in a grid.
Packaging system. The previous range sits at left.

    Northlight Coffee

One identity, two shops, two teams

A second location meant the brand would be applied by people who had never met us. We rebuilt it as a system with rules tight enough to hand over — packaging, signage and the site all drawn from the same set.

    Opened on schedule

    • Identity
    • Website
  • Printed page templates laid out left to right in flow order, annotated in pencil, with the rebuilt version running on a laptop at the end of the row.
Page templates in flow order. The rebuilt version runs at right.

    Tidewater Outfitters

A store rebuilt around its checkout

Half of the people who reached payment never finished. We rebuilt the store template by template, kept every URL, and cut the last three steps down to one.

Cart abandonment down by a third

    • E-commerce
    • Build
  • The practice's old paper appointment book open beside a tablet running the booking tool that replaced it.
The appointment book the tool replaced.

    Meridian Dental

Booking the front desk actually trusts

A shared paper diary had become the booking system, and the crossings-out were the audit trail. We replaced it with availability by location, deposits, and reminders that send themselves.

What we do

Three kinds of work, done properly

  • Brand and positioning

Naming, identity and the one sentence that makes everything else easier to write. Delivered as a system your team can apply without us.

    • Identity
    • Messaging
    • Guidelines
  • Websites that get handed over

Marketing sites and storefronts built so your own developers can pick them up. No retainer required to change a headline.

    • Design
    • Build
    • Handover
  • Internal tools

The spreadsheet that quietly runs your business, turned into something that still works when the person who made it leaves.

How it goes

Four steps, no surprises

The third one is the part most studios skip, and the reason clients end up chasing.

  1. You send an inquiry

One form. No discovery call to book a discovery call. We read it ourselves and answer within two working days, including when the answer is no.

  2. We scope it together

A conversation, then a written scope with milestones and a fixed price. Nothing starts until you have both in hand.

  3. You watch it happen

Every project gets a private link. Status, milestones and dates, current as the work moves. You never have to ask where things stand.

  4. We hand it over

Source, documentation and a walkthrough with whoever will own it next. Staying on is an option, not a dependency.

What clients say

Mostly about not having to chase us

  • “The link to our project was the thing that sold the rest of the team. Nobody had to ask for an update once in three months.”

    Dana Whitfield

    Owner, Northlight Coffee

  • “They told us the first version of our brief was the wrong project, and explained why. That conversation saved us most of the budget.”

    Priya Raman

    Practice manager, Meridian Dental

  • “Handover was a real handover. Our developer had the whole thing running locally in an afternoon, from their documentation alone.”

    Marcus Vandal

    Operations, Tidewater Outfitters

Questions

The ones we get asked first

What does a project usually cost?

Most work lands between fifteen and forty thousand. We quote a fixed price against a written scope, so the number you approve is the number you pay. If the scope changes we requote before doing the work, not after.

How long does it take?

A brand refresh is four to six weeks. A site is six to ten. Internal tools depend entirely on what they replace, and we will not guess at that before a conversation.

Do we have to sign a retainer?

No, and we would rather you did not. Everything is handed over with source and documentation so your own team can take it forward. Plenty of clients come back, which is different from having to.

Who actually does the work?

The people you meet. We are small on purpose, and there is no layer of account management between you and whoever is building the thing.

What is the client portal?

A private link to your project showing status, milestones and dates, updated as the work happens. No account to create and no password to lose. It exists so nobody has to send an email asking where things are.

What if we are not the right fit?

We will say so, usually within two days, and point you at someone better suited. A project neither side is sure about is worse for us than an empty week.

We are small and we read everything ourselves. If we are not the right fit we will say so, and usually point you somewhere better.
